"The provision of safe drinking water is a key driver of public health and a pressing health issue facing First Nations communities in Canada. Despite numerous government assessments, training initiatives and billions of dollars in targeted funding, accessibility of safe drinking water has been and continues to be, a perennial problem in First Nations communities nationwide. Although the Liard First Nation has a well-established, large public drinking water system with regulatory oversight, routine water sampling, and certified operators for the operation of their drinking water treatment plant and water truck delivery, this project was seen as important in terms of its contributions to the baseline of information available on the community water supply." - from Executive Summary.
