V~B 1qqs The popular image of the Klondike Gold Rush is one of thousands of men struggling over the Chilkoot Pass and streaming in to the hastily built city of Dawson. Over the years, the stories about specific men, and a few women, have been repeated and have become larger than lite. Thousands of women also endured the same hardships to reach this destination. They came from all walks of life and for a variety of reasons. Many remained in the Yukon long after the rush was over. In recent years there has been an increase in studies of Yukon women. It is hoped that this source list will contribute to future examinations of their experiences, enabling us to better understand their role in the making of Yukon history. Compiled in this bibliography are the sources containing information about women, including aboriginal women, which are available at the Dawson City Museum. The time frame is unlimited and includes women in all of the Yukon, not only the Klondike. ., • I.
